Cloud Trends to Watch for 2024
As 2024 is beginning to unfold, the cloud computing world is buzzing with new trends to watch for in the new year. It’s shaping up to be a game-changer, with some fresh and exciting developments in cloud services. Let’s take a closer look at these trends! Whether you’re deeply involved in tech, leading a business, or just keen to stay updated, these cloud trends are something you won’t want to miss. Let’s dive into what 2024 has in store for cloud computing.
Microsoft Defender for Business
A full-featured, lightweight antivirus solution is now included in the popular MS 365 Business Premium license. Now there is no need to purchase a third-party antivirus solution and incur additional costs for its support and administration. The administrative console is built directly into the standard 365 Security Admin Center. Additionally, a built-in threat analyzer is immediately available as is an offering of a set of best practices for eliminating these threats. Deployment and configuration for all company devices can be done with just a few clicks using MS Intune. If additional server protection is required, a separate add-on is also available, just like in traditional MS Defender for Endpoints.
Do you need to constantly communicate with your partners through Teams but don’t want to add too many guest accounts in your 365 tenants? Not long ago, Microsoft provided the opportunity for more convenient collaboration by the Teams Shared Channels through the Microsoft Entra B2B direct connect of Entra ID tenants. Now you just need to enable it and create it in one of the Shared Channel tenants in one of the standard Teams. And that’s all, this channel will be visible to users in both tenants, and users will be able to directly communicate without the need to add guest accounts.
The popular remote desktop solution is now just one step away from officially supporting FSLogix profiles for cloud-only Entra ID users. This option is still in preview but now there is no need to support the old hybrid architecture or even the recently introduced support for Kerberos in Entra ID itself.
Using Cloud Cache, profiles are stored directly in the Azure storage account’s BLOB and are securely connected to the session hosts via standard HTTPS without the need to use SMB and configure additional pseudo-NTFS permissions to folders and profile files.
For some reason, few people realize such a wonderful service with many free features even exists! Even if you don’t have any on-premises servers left and you’ve all migrated to the cloud as virtual machines, you still get the ability to administer your entire infrastructure in one browser-based console thanks to the Windows Admin Center console, which is now in the Preview status. Now, all you need to do is add your account to the Windows Admin Center Administrator Login RBAC role.
